The Central Himalayan Education Initiative

MCF is working with the Himmotthan Society on the Central Himalayan Education Initiative (CHEI) for a three year programme in 20 villages of Vikasnagar Ghat block of District Chamoli. The focus of first phase of the programme is to improve ICDS services. The program was launched in 2015 and has already shown tremendous impact in terms of improving services delivered through Anganwadis – including pre-primary education and nutrition. There is greater community participation in and ownership of anganwadis, more children in the 3-6 age group are accessing the anganwadis, more mal nourished children are getting extra support. More than 835 children in 22  Bal Sangathans have planted 597 trees of which more than 90% still survive. More can be read in the annual reports
